Schools’ National Cup Round 3

Match Date: Monday 13th November 2017

Weatherhead’s Under 13s played a nail biter of a game in Round 3 of the Schools’ National Cup when they hosted Great Sankey High School on Monday.  It was anyone’s game throughout the hour of play as the teams matched each other goal for goal in an enthralling game to leave the score 4-4 at full time.

Weatherhead went into extra time with unwavering determination led by captain McCready, and in an outstanding display of teamwork and sheer grit, managed to edge their way past the visitors to bring the score to 5-4. What followed was quite possibly the longest 4 and half minutes ever experienced on our Astroturf, as the girls threw everything they had at the visitors and more to maintain their lead and win a ticket through to Round 4!
