All year groups – Future Choices Fair – End of Summer Term

As part of Weatherhead’s continuing commitment to informing our students about the range of education and training options, including apprenticeships available to them  and raising their aspirations, we invite a range of Further and Higher education establishments, universities and apprenticeship providers to represent their establishment at our Future Choices Fair.

The aim of the event is to provide impartial careers education, information, advice and guidance from a range of local and national employers and education institutions.

 

Year 10

University of Liverpool Summer School Residential

A small number of students based on selection criteria set by the university of Liverpool, are invited to take part in a University Summer School Residential at the University during Year 10 Work Experience Week.

The project is run by the University of Liverpool to give students an insight into university life. It enables students to explore a range of subjects and courses on offer at university.  It gives them the opportunity to experience university life by meeting undergraduates and staff and by participating in group work, lectures, workshops, social events and staying in Halls of Residence accommodation.

 

Year 12

Edge Hill University visit – An introduction to Higher Education

This visit aims to prepare students not only with the university application process but also to support with the transition to university. We have a number of interactive workshops that will run throughout the day covering key topics. The workshops will include an Introduction to UCAS, Student Finance explained, Information on writing a personal statement and budgeting advice.

Liverpool University UCAS Convention

To help students make a more informed decision on where they would like to study, UCAS holds a series of higher education conventions/fairs throughout the UK every year. A large cross-section of universities from all over the UK attend to give advice and information about their institutions and the courses they offer. The fairs also offer an extensive seminar programme, covering topics like student finance, gap years, and applying to university through UCAS. The exhibitions help students explore a wide range of academic and career opportunities, and discover a future that’s right for them.
