Key Stage 3 Awards Evening 2022
After a two year hiatus, we had great pleasure in welcoming parents and carers back to the school to join us in celebrating our KS3 Awards Evening on Tuesday 21st June.
Awards in endeavour and attainment across the curriculum were presented to 112 students in Years 7, 8 and 9 as part of the evening’s celebrations.
Headteacher, Miss Whelan, opened the evening with a warm welcome. Year 9 Dancer, Chloe, performed to Fire on Fire by Sam Smith and choreographed by Head of Dance, Mrs Games. Our new Head Girl, Molly, welcomed our guest speaker and introduced our junior choir. The choir, led by Head of Music, Miss Donnelly, performed Fight Song by Rachel Platten.
The awards were presented by our guest speaker and Weatherhead Alumna, Kathryn Dutton, joined by Mrs Kaloumenos, Assistant Headteacher, Miss Thomason, Year 7 Leader, Mr Barr, Year 8 Leader and Miss Smith, Director of KS3.
Kathryn delivered a sincere and inspirational speech, talking about her time at Weatherhead and University, gaining a Masters in Law and working abroad. Her parting advice to students was to: “get involved, never give up and reap the rewards!”
As a vote of thanks, Deputy Head Girls Maisy and Neeva presented Kathryn with a beautiful piece of student artwork.
The evening was brought to a close with a reading of Robert Frost’s The Road Not Taken, beautifully read by Year 8 student Kira, and the final address by Miss Whelan.
We would like to thank the students, parents and carers in joining us for this celebration of our students.
