Virtual Parents' Evening

We can now connect parents and teachers by video call for virtual parents’ evenings and review meetings.

Our Year 11 students have overcome many challenges over the past 10 months and we feel this point of communication between teachers and parents is crucial in ensuring the overall wellbeing and academic progress of our students is discussed. This important evening will also provide you with an opportunity to discuss mock examination results (results will be issued to students before Parents’ Evening) and Sixth Form options.

The school has introduced a new online system which allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers. Following this, on the evening itself, you will need to log into the system again and all of the appointments will be conducted virtually. No additional app is required; you will need a smartphone, tablet or computer.

Appointments can be made up until Friday 15th January 2021. Teaching staff will be available for appointments in 4 minute blocks from 4.30 pm until 7.30 pm, you can choose when you would like your appointments to suit your own availability.

Prior to the evening:

  • Please visit to book your appointments.

  • Enter your title, first name and surname followed by an email address.

  • The students’ first name, surname and date of birth will need to be entered too.

  • Follow the on screen instructions and click on the ‘Year 11 Parents’ Evening’ to make the appointments.

On the evening:

If you do not have access to the internet, please contact Mrs G. Jones by phoning school on 0151 631 4400 who will be happy to create appointments on your behalf and arrange for telephone calls to be made.

Frequently Asked Questions and Guidance for Parents and Carers

Why is Weatherhead High School holding Parents’ Evenings online at this time?

Due to the pandemic, we are unable to invite you into school. We did not want to postpone Parents’ Evenings, as many other schools have done, as we felt that it was important for parents/carers to have a conversation with teachers at the scheduled time.

What if I have a prior engagement on the night of the Parents’ Evening or am unable to make an appointment with a particular teacher?

The booking system allows you to make appointments at times which suit you, enabling you to meet as many teachers as possible. As is the case for a physical Parents’ Evening, it may not be possible for all parents/carers to secure an appointment with every teacher or, in some cases, to attend at all.

What if a particular teacher is ill?

In line with our normal practice, if a teacher with whom you have booked an appointment is ill on the day of Parents’ Evening, you will also be unable to speak to them. Where this is the case, we will endeavour to cancel the appointment and send you a message to this effect.

If I cannot speak to a particular teacher, is there an alternative?

We will endeavour to arrange a follow up telephone call if possible after Parents’ Evening. During the course of the year, we provide written and data reports to our parents/carers.

Where classes are shared, is it possible to speak to both teachers?

Your child’s teacher will be instructed as to how shared classes are managed. In some cases, you will have the opportunity to speak to both teachers at the same time. If both teachers appear for booking separately, however, your child will be directed as to which one you book with. For example, in Trilogy Science you will see one teacher. The student will be notified which teacher needs to be seen.

Is it possible for two parents/carers, in separate locations to attend the same appointment?

Unfortunately, the system does not support this. Depending on teacher availability, it may be possible for separated parents/carers to make an appointment each. If this applies to you and you have not received an email invitation enabling you to make appointments, please contact the school and we will endeavour to book these on your behalf.
