Vision & Aims

Our goal – every student achieves their full potential

Curriculum Provision at Weatherhead High School

The curriculum should equip all of our students with the knowledge and skills to enable them to respond positively to the opportunities and challenges of the rapidly changing world in which we live and work.

Our curriculum must focus on the knowledge, qualities and skills our learners need to succeed in school and beyond. Through effective support, advice and guidance, we must equip our students with the means to make informed choices enabling them all to become:-

  • Successful learners
  • Confident individuals
  • Responsible citizens

How to Deliver the Goal

In order to do this we must be prepared to:

  • Ensure that all students have good levels of basic literacy and numeracy
  • Be flexible in our thinking, producing a range of learning routes which are engaging, relevant and of good quality
  • Embrace personalisation
  • Build in challenge at all levels
  • Build further partnerships with employers and recognise the importance of work related learning
  • Include a range of vocational learning opportunities
  • Embed enterprise learning into the curriculum
  • Adapt programmes to enable good transition from primary schools
  • Enhance our out of lesson provision through extra-curricular and extended school opportunities
  • Continually evaluate our performance through accountability measures which include:

Attainment and improved standards
Behaviour and attendance
Participation in the community
Involvement with further education/training
A sense of well-being and healthy life choices

  • Ensure all students have equal access to all provision and where a language is not a compulsory subject, they have a language experience.
