Meet Our Heroes

13 July 2020 | School News

Lockdown was bitter sweet, but through the loss and uncertain times, something magical happened. The country united. Our heroes, who had always been there, working tirelessly, dedicated to their work, were catapulted to the nations heroes.  We came together at 8pm on a Thursday to thank those millions of key workers who were making a difference to our daily lives.

Locally, communities rallied together to do something to help those in need; schools made face shields for key workers; community groups provided hot meals, food parcels or a caring voice at the end of the phone for those shielding and isolated.

At home, we looked out for family, friends and neighbours.  The rainbow decorated windows were a beacon of hope as we ventured out for our daily exercise.  No act of kindness was too small.

Looking at our school community, who we know already did so much outside of school, we asked them to share with us some of the activities Weatherhead students have been doing during their time in lockdown. It could be anything from helping younger siblings with work, to baking cakes for local residents or family.
