Earlier this month, 13 Year 7 Gifted and Talented students attended the ‘Matthew Tosh Science Behind Fireworks Christmas Lecture’ at the University of Chester. In the lecture they saw hands on demonstrations showing how fireworks are ignited, the chemistry behind the colours and the physics behind the shapes, sizes and projectiles. The students all really enjoyed the demonstrations and said their favourite part was seeing the colours of the different salts.
