Great European Bake Off 2019

27 September 2019 | School News

In celebration of ‘European Day of Languages’ and to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, our Modern Foreign Languages department held their annual European themed cake decorating competition.

In total, 25 cakes were entered into the competition and our talented student bakers should be incredibly proud of their creations. In the end the judges awarded four top prizes.

In first place, Year 7 student Zoe impressed judges with her jigsaw and football themed cake. In second place, Year 10 student Erin, who is no stranger to the MFL baking competition, created a replica of Amsterdam. In 3rd place, Year 9 student Seren created a cake paella and in 4th place, Year 7 student Eleri created a ‘world class’ friend cake. You can see all the creative entries in the gallery below.

After the competition was over, the cakes were sliced and sold for a small donation. Thank you to our 6th form students for co-ordinating the cake sale. All monies raised will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The bake off was part of a week of events to celebrate ‘European Day of Languages’ on Thursday 26th September and included karaoke, a foreign film and a form time quiz.

Well done to all the students who participated!
