Weatherhead students have performed extremely well in the new and more challenging GCSE qualifications. 73% of grades achieved being at least grade 4 (equivalent to grade C in the previous GCSE measures).

A significant proportion of students secured outstanding success in achieving the highest grades 9-7, in all 441 grades were achieved at this level and there were 23 grade 9s secured in English. Seven students achieved the highest grades (9-7) in all of their subjects – this is a new record for the school and represents a wonderful achievement from our high ability students.

81% of students in English and 65% of students in Mathematics achieved grade 4 or above, and 45% of students achieved a grade 5 or higher in English and Maths.

Students have also excelled in Modern Foreign Languages with all students securing the highest possible grades 9-8 in French with 3 dual linguist students, Beth Birtles, Amy Dunderdale and Tasya Hoyle achieving a grade 9 in both French and Spanish. In addition, 88% of students achieved a grade 4 and above in Spanish.

A record number of subjects ensured that all students achieved a grade 4 and above, these subjects include: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, German, Art & Design, Textiles, Music, Business Studies, Food Technology and Media Studies.

Also in Childcare Development, 21 students achieved A* grades and 86% achieved the highest possible grades A*- A, with 100% of students achieving a C or above.

Weatherhead High School’s curriculum remains inclusive and broad so that all students are given the opportunity to succeed. The performance of all abilities was very impressive and our top ability students excelled.  The school’s top GCSE performers were:

A special mention to twins Elodie and Sarah Dubuis who picked up 18 GCSE grades between them with 17 of them being grade 7 or above.

The students have worked so hard to achieve success in all subjects and the staff at Weatherhead continue to work tirelessly to support them. I am very proud of our fully inclusive school and the results are a true reflection of our culture of very high aspirations. These results will open many doors and I look forward to seeing many students return in September to continue their studies.”
