Headteacher’s Welcome

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to Weatherhead High School, a happy, caring and vibrant community where our students take centre stage.  I would like to assure you that we have extremely high expectations and aspirations for all members of our school community – framed around our school’s values of RESILIENCE, RESPECT, REACH and REWARD – and we share an ambition for Weatherhead High School to be one of the best schools in the country.  We are a school that will never stand still, with an ethos of hard work, aspiration and success delivered through a culture of nurture, support and encouragement where students respect each other and grow in confidence and resilience.

The school prides itself on encouraging its young people to aspire to excellence in everything they do, whether that be academic excellence, a passion and enthusiasm for the creative and performing arts, sporting prowess, or student leadership.  A broad, exciting and challenging curriculum sits alongside a stimulating extra-curricular programme and wider curriculum opportunities, and these elements of school life combine to mould inquisitive, confident, dynamic and successful young people ready for the future as global citizens. Our teaching and support staff are dedicated, passionate and fully committed to ensuring all students are able to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally so they can lead productive and happy lives.

Our students achieve well because they are motivated, hardworking and focused.  It is, though, the caring and strong pastoral system, complemented by the opportunity to develop enduring friendships, which makes them feel happy and safe, allowing them to flourish during their time here.  The school also benefits greatly from a very positive relationship with parents, working together in our common aim to encourage and support our young people.

Weatherhead High School continues to be ranked among the best schools across the region, as we encourage and enable our students to be resilient, show respect and reach for their dreams.
