Gymnasts ‘handspring’ into the top 10

Congratulations to the six Weatherhead gymnasts who reached the Milano Team National Finals and secured 3rd and 7th place. On Saturday 10th March 2017, six gymnastics club students travelled to Fenton Manor Sports Complex, Stoke-on-Trent, to compete in the British Schools Gymnastics Association’s Milano Team National Finals. All the students performed beautiful trio routines, along with individual routines and vaults. The students were representing the North West and had the opportunity to watch and compete against other talented gymnasts from Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales.
The under 19 mixed trio placed 3rd in the UK. They are:
  • Adam (Year 13)
  • Ellie (Year 9)
  • Lauren (Year 10)
The under 19 girls placed 7th in the UK. They are:
  • Emma (Year 10)
  • Laura (Year 13)
  • Sarah (Year 10)
The results are recognition of their hard work and dedication to the sport. Well done, an amazing performance!

About the British Schools Gymnastics Association

The BSGA formed to promote participation in, and the development of gymnastics in UK schools. It embraces all gymnastics disciplines and is fully inclusive of able bodied children and those with disabilities. Working alongside other national bodies such as British Gymnastics, the BSGA offers alternative competition pathways for novice and intermediate gymnasts whilst also encouraging elite performers to excel in their disciplines at the same events.
